Steward Home Care Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer opportunities are available through Steward Home Care’s Hospice Care program. Volunteers are important members of our interdisciplinary team. Volunteers are individuals who have received extensive training and are supervised by the hospice volunteer coordinator.

Volunteers assist patients and their families in a variety of ways, which include:

• Providing companionship for the patient and family
• Staying with the patient while family members take a break
• Listening and lending support
• Running errands or prepare meals
• Reading to the patient
• Sitting in silence when it is appropriate
• Providing an atmosphere of warmth and understanding
