Chronic Heart Failure Program
For more information about Saint
Elizabeth's Chronic Heart Failure Service please call 617-789-3047.
Located
in the Cardiovascular Center at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, our
Heart Failure Service offers one of New England's most advanced care
programs for patients at any stage of chronic heart failure (CHF). In
fact, St. Elizabeth’s has been awarded a High Reliability Cardiac Care
award from Masspro, one of the country's leading healthcare quality
organizations.
We take a multidisciplinary, long-term approach
to diagnostic testing, inpatient care and outpatient services. Our goals
are to extend and improve the quality of our patients’ lives and reduce
the need for hospitalization.
What makes our Chronic Heart Failure
Program so special?
-
We are in the forefront of CHF care. A
pioneer in the use of new techniques and technologies, St.
Elizabeth’s was the first medical team in the US to implant a
new cardiac resynchronization therapy defibrillator (a device
that sends electrical impulses to the heart muscle to reduce
heart failure symptoms). And our CHF experts continue to offer
access to advanced technologies, treatments and clinical trials,
some of which are unavailable elsewhere in the Boston area.
-
We provide rapid access to CHF Services,
especially for patients with advanced disease who may require
inpatient care. Referring physicians can make appointments for
their CHF patients quickly through the medical center's
admitting office.
-
Our expert physicians, all
board-certified faculty members of the Tufts University School
of Medicine, direct and participate in every aspect of diagnosis
and treatment. Surgeons, cardiologists, electrophysiology
experts and nursing and rehabilitation staff collaborate closely
to assure well-coordinated and efficient treatment involving
patients, families and referring physicians in discussions of
test results, treatment plans and progress.
-
We provide sophisticated, sustained,
individualized, considerate care for our CHF patients
