Norwood Hospital Receives Gold Seal of Approval™

Norwood Hospital, a Caritas Christi family hospital, has received the Gold Seal of Approval from The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations (JCA). This certification was awarded for demonstrating compliance with The Joint Commission's national standards in health care quality and safety. Norwood Hospital received the Gold Seal of Approval in December 2008 and accreditation is effective for three years.

The mission of The Joint Commission on Accreditation is to “continuously improve the safety and quality of care provided to the public through the provision of health care accreditation and related services that support performance improvement in health care organizations.” In keeping with this mission, The Joint Commission accredits and certifies more than 15,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States through an independent accreditation process. Joint Commission accreditation and certification is recognized by patients, clinicians and health care systems nationwide as the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval.

In addition to the Gold Seal of Approval, Norwood Hospital also received the following Special Quality Award from The Joint Commission:

• Hospital Quality Alliance Participant, which designates that a hospital has agreed to submit performance measures for publication on the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) website. 
• ACS Bariatric Surgery Center Network Accreditation — Level 2:
  To improve quality and facilitate access to care for morbidly obese patients, the American College of Surgeons Bariatric Surgery Center Network (ACS BSCN) Accreditation Program recognizes as Bariatric Centers, facilities which implement and maintain certain physical resources, human resources, standards of practice, and documentation of outcomes of care.
