Carney Hospital Receives Gold Seal of Approval™
Carney Hospital, a Caritas Christi family hospital, located in the heart of Dorchester, has received the Gold Seal of Approval from The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations (JCA). This certification was awarded for demonstrating compliance with The Joint Commission's national standards in health care quality and safety. Carney Hospital received this Gold Seal of Approval in January 2007 and accreditation is effective for three years.
The mission of The Joint Commission on Accreditation is to “continuously improve the safety and quality of care provided to the public through the provision of health care accreditation and related services that support performance improvement in health care organizations.” In keeping with this mission, The Joint Commission accredits and certifies more than 15,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States through an independent accreditation process. Joint Commission accreditation and certification is recognized by patients, clinicians and health care systems nationwide as the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval.
In addition to the Gold Seal of Approval, Carney Hospital has also received the following Special Quality Award from The Joint Commission:
- Hospital Quality Alliance Participant, which designates that a hospital has agreed to submit performance measures for publication on the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) website.
- Annual Get with the Guidelines — Stroke, which partners with the American Heart Association and the American Stroke Association to reduce disability and death from cardiovascular diseases and stroke. Get With the Guidelines leverages three modules, which demonstrates the following:
- Coronary Artery Disease (CAD), signifies that a hospital's data shows at least 85% adherence in the five core Get With The Guidelines CAD measures
- Stroke signifies that a hospital's data shows at least 85% adherence in the seven core Get With The Guidelines Stroke measures
- Heart Failure signifies that a hospital's data shows at least 85% adherence in the five core Get With The Guidelines Heart Failure measures
