Bringing Our Mission Where it is Needed.
When a 7.0-magnitude earthquake struck Haiti earlier this year, the medical resources of the tiny island nation were strained far beyond capacity and hundreds of thousands of severely injured people were left without care. In response, Caritas Christi sent a team of volunteer physicians, nurses and technicians to provide essential medical care to as many of the injured as possible.
More than two dozen Caritas clinicians traveled to Haiti, where they experienced first hand the impact of compassion.
A Man Named Joseph
I don't know how he has come to me, but he seems alone, and wants to help. I observe him as he silently watches the chaos in the OR and hovers nearby, not wanting to get in the way. Surrogate Child
It amazed me that although we had 250 patients in our hospital compound, the entire team was emotionally connected to the fate of this child. Part of this was because not one of us had diagnosed, seen or treated a case of tetanus. But I'm convinced it was more to do with the dependent fragility of

My New Friend Rita
She is 64 years old and has been raising her daughter's two sons since 1996 when the young mother drowned at 26 yrs old....Rita was on her way to confession when the earthquake occurred. Her legs were trapped under cinder blocks for six days when American soldiers found her and came to her rescue. Read more...
