Lactation Services

For more information on St. Elizabeth's lactation services, call 617-562-5371

St. Elizabeth's Medical Center offers a team of breastfeeding experts to all mothers who deliver at the medical center. Our nursing staff and a lactation consultant are available as you begin to breastfeed, which benefits mother and baby. Ask your nurse for information about scheduling a consultation.

Prenatal Breastfeeding Class
Learn about the value of breast milk for your infant during this two-hour class. Other topics covered include practical tips on the "how to" and "whys," answers to frequently asked questions, and how to choose a breast pump. Come during your last trimester and bring a guest. Call us to schedule your class.

Lactation Rounds
As a complement to the nursing staff, lactation rounds take place Monday through Friday by a board-certified lactation consultant for patients during their stay after the birth of their infant. Assessment, assistance, guidance and support are offered during a visit. Mothers in special situations such as prematurity or illness are given individual assistence as needed.

Private Consultation
Appointments with a board-certified lactation consultant for prenatal concerns or if  difficulties with breastfeeding arise. Call 617-562-5371 to schedule your consultation.

Warm Line
Call lactation services at 617-562-5371 with questions or concerns about anything related to breastfeeding. Your call will be answered in a timely fashion.

Breastfeeding Support Group
Meets weekly on Tuesdays from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., at the St. Margaret's Center. All breastfeeding mothers and babies are welcome.  This is a wonderful opportunity to meet other mothers and share experiences. Bring your questions and join us.  A board-certified lactation consultant is present for questions and support, but this is really a mothers' group. No registration is required and walk-ins are welcome. Call us for more information at 617-562-5371.
