About Us | Senior Leadership Team
St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center is a community-based 272-bed tertiary care hospital located in the Brighton neighborhood of Boston. Recognized throughout the region for delivering exceptional patient care in a compassionate environment, St. E’s is a thoroughly modern inpatient and outpatient facility that is also a teaching affiliate of Tufts University School of Medicine.
The hospital began in 1868 when five laywomen members of the third order of St. Francis founded St. Elizabeth's as a hospital dedicated to the care of women from Boston's South End. Today, St. E’s, as we are affectionately called, has evolved into a full-service facility that offers sophisticated and comprehensive medical care to women, men and families.
