Library Services

The Helen Stubblefield Law Library is open to all members of the college community. Areas of specialization include nursing, electroneurodiagnostic technology, health information technology, nutrition and food management/dietetic technology and radiation therapy.

The library is located on the fourth floor of the college.

Hours of Operation
Monday – Thursday 8 a.m. – 10 p.m.
Friday 8 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Saturday 12 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Sunday 12 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Library is open 6 a.m. - 8 a.m. (Monday through Friday) for computer printing and photocopying.

Electronic Databases

EBSCOhost Research Databases. - Provides access to full-text, peer-reviewed journal articles and research in nursing and allied health. Please contact library for User ID and Password.

NewsBank - Web-based access to newspaper collections and other news and information resources.

Gale Databases

Periodicals

The library has access to web-based periodicals as well as periodicals on open shelves.

Delivering Health Care in a.m.erica: A Systems Approach 4th ed. , 2008

The library fosters judicious use of information technology, particularly as it relates to developing research skills that support evidence-based practice. The library provides access to computers for word processing, computer-assisted instruction including Software for Nurses, interactive video, and NCLEX review. Additionally, the library provides online services (OCLC FirstSearch, Boston Public Library, National Library of Medicine, Databases, Online Patron Access Catalog) to its students and alumni.

Web Resources

HighWire Press Service provides access to full-text articles. HighWire Press is the largest archive of free full-text science articles. As of 3/10/06, HighWire Press is assisting in the online publication of 1,215,208 free full-text articles and 3,144,009 total articles. There are 51 sites with free trial periods, and 30 completely free sites. Some sites charge fees. 221 sites have free back issues, and 784 sites have pay per view.

The Internet Public Library provides resources in many subject areas such as health, law, social sciences a.m.ong others as well as good access to newspaper collections.

MedlinePlus is a service of the United States National Library of Medicine and the National Institutes of Health. It provides current news on health topics, drugs, and supplements, definitions of medical words, pictures, and diagra.m.s.

PubMed Central (p.m.C) is the United States National Institutes of Health free digital archive of biomedical and life sciences journal literature.

Media Services

All videotapes in course outlines or assigned in class are available for students. Equip.m.ent for viewing videotapes is available in the classrooms and during hours that the Helen Stubblefield Library is open.

One-on-One Service

The one-on-one library service is an individualized progra.m. designed to help students address specific academic weaknesses by using appropriate information resources.

Circulation/Reserve Collections

Circulating books may be borrowed for a three-week period and may be renewed in person or over the telephone.

Print and nonprint titles are placed on reserve by faculty and are to be used in the library.

Reference Services

Reference Services are not limited to only traditional sources such as books and periodicals. They are also accomplished by using online services and resource sharing with other institutions. The following link is a guide to APA style.
