"We
have experienced rehabilitation efforts in
several highly rated institutions; none of these
came close to the nursing care and patient
consideration provided by the Transitional Care
Unit. We will be your chief 'rooters' from this
date on."

Holy Family Hospital's sports inpatient rehabilitation services include care in four areas, which meet patients’ needs as they progress through all levels of rehabilitation.
Not all patients will require all levels of care; therefore rehabilitation programs are created individually. Our levels of rehab include:
After surgery, your recovery will begin in St. Mary’s. Here, a dedicated team of nurses, physical and occupational therapists will work with you and your physician to create an individualized recovery plan. From skilled pain management expertise to personalized nursing care, we are committed to getting you up and moving. From here, you may elect to continue your recovery in our TCU.
Our Transitional Care Unit, St. Raphael’s, helps you transition from your surgery and sets you on the road to recovery. Patients benefit from a personalized physical therapy/occupational therapy program and from the use of our gym facilities.
In the TCU you’re an important member of your recovery team, which includes physicians, nurses, physical and occupational therapists, dietitians, and other health care professionals.
The TCU enables the team to focus exercises and therapies to your specific needs, both speeding up your recovery time and ensuring that the physical gains you make are maximized.
Quality: Our TCU is ranked in the top 10 percent nationally for patient satisfaction (Press Ganey) and we are fully accredited by JCAHO, the body that evaluates and judges hospital standards. Patients have 24-hour access to our physicians and a nursing staff that is specially trained and dedicated to the TCU. A pharmacist also works with the TCU.
Comfort: Our TCU offers a welcoming and pleasant environment, with a home-like feel. Each room has its own television and telephone. The unit features a common area for your comfort and rehabilitation. Our family room is great for gathering with other patients, speaking with visitors, or even watching television. An adjacent kitchen is available for your use, and to help prepare you for returning home.
Physical therapy and occupational therapy continue when you return home. Your therapist will perform a comprehensive evaluation of your abilities and limitations, creating a personalized treatment plan to address your goals. Together you and your therapist will work toward achieving those goals.
When you are well enough to travel outside of your home but still require therapy, you may continue therapy at Holy Family Hospital on an outpatient basis.
Our therapists are experienced, knowledgeable and bring skills from diverse backgrounds. All therapists share a close working relationship with local orthopedic physicians and home care providers, ensuring a efficient progression to the next level as you achieve your therapy goals.
